Tour Itinerary

DAY—1 : ARRIVAL AT DHAKA

Arrival at Dhaka International Airport. Meet & greet at the airport and transfer by representative and guide to pre- confirmed hotel of your choice. Multimedia presentation on evolution of Buddhism, Buddhist architecture and sculpture in Bangladesh by an expert (45 min.) optional. Overnight at the hotel in Dhaka.

Dhaka is more than 1500 years old city, and became capital of the country in 1608 under the Mughal rule. During ancient and medieval periods the city was known to the world for its unique product, the Muslin – the finest fabric ever produced in the world. As the capital of Bangladesh it has grown into a bustling city of trades and commerce, cultural and sport activities, vibrating with full of life. The city has two parts – the old part and the new part. The old part is known as the Old Dhaka, which developed during the Mughal period. With the happy blending of the old and new architectural trends, traditions and modernization, Dhaka has been expanding so fast since the independence of Bangladesh in 1971. At present about 15 million people live in the city. Now the city of Dhaka is filled with history, tradition and culture. It has endless numbers of activities, attractions accommodations and business opportunities.

DAY—2 : DHAKA

After breakfast at the hotel proceed to sightseeing covering Dharmarajika Buddhist Monastery Complex in Dhaka was built in 1960 and since then it is the center of Buddhist life and culture in Dhaka and Bangladesh. It housed the DharmarajikPali College which was established in 1960 as well. After that proceed to Munshiganj to have a visit at the house of Atish Dipankar(980-1053) Buddhist scholar, religious preceptor and philosopher, son of Kalyanasree and Prabhavati Devi, was born in Vajrayogini village, vikramapura. Nateshwar Buddhist temple is one of the ancient Buddha temple in Bangladesh. Very recent years, Archaeologist discovered it by conducting recurring excavations. Joint team of archaeologists from Bangladesh and China has unearthed this ancient Buddhist temple with unique architectural features at the village Nateshwar in Munshiganj.Late in the afternoon arrive at Dhaka. Overnight at the hotel in Dhaka.

DAY—3 : DHAKA - BOGRA

After early breakfast at the hotel proceed to Bogra. Upon arrival at Bogra sightseeing covering Mahasthangarh; dating back to at least the 4th century BCE, Mahasthangarh is the earliest urban archaeological site that has been discovered in Bangladesh.One of the highlights of Mahasthangarh is GovindaBhita, where remnants of two Buddhist temples can be visited. The main temple was erected in the 6th century and next to it is a slightly smaller temple, which was built in the 11th century. Later on drive towards to hotel. Overnight at the hotel in Bogra. 

DAY—4: BOGRA –RAJSHAHI [via DINAJPUR]

After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Rajshahi. En-route sightseeing covering Somapura Mahavihara; the magnificent main temple dominates the Paharpur site, rising up 22 metres as a cruciform over three terraces. Entering through the central staircase on the north side, you can climb up to the second and third tiers of the temple and explore the different chambers up close. From here, you get a wonderful view of the vast monastery and its 177 monk cells, more stupas, and other archaeological structures.Halud Vihara is 14.5 kilometers (9.0 mi) west-southwest from the World Heritage Site of SomapuraMahavihara. The main feature of the site is "a large mound 100 feet across and 25 feet high" but there are other mounds and remains of brick structures.Overnight at the hotel in Rajshahi.

DAY—5 : RAJSHAHI - JESSORE

After early breakfast at the hotel proceed to Jessore. En-route sightseeing covering the Bhorot Bhaina; is an archaeological site in south-western Bangladesh. Located on the western bank of the Buri-Bhadra River in the village of Bharat Bhayna in Keshabpur Upazila of Jessore.The supposed ancient temple is said to have been built by a mythical king named Bharat. Remains of another ancient site locally known as Bharat RajarBadi (house of king Bharat) are located on the river Buri-Bhadra in the village of Gaurighona about 2 km south of this mound. Another mound known as Dalijhara is located in the adjacent village of Kashimpur. Later on arrive at the hotel and check-in. overnight at the hotel in Jessore.

DAY—6 : JESSORE – COMILLA [FLY FROM JESSORE TO DHAKA]

Fly from Jessore to Dhaka. Arrive at Dhaka airport after 40 minutes fly and get board at the bus for proceed to Comilla. Visit Mainamati Buddhist ruins.

DAY—7 : COMILLA - BANDARBAN

Proceed to Bandarban. Arrive at Bandarban and visit Bandarban Golden Temple; also called The Buddha DhatuJadi is located close to Balaghata town, in Bandarban City, in Bangladesh. Dhatu are the material remains of a holy person, and in this temple the relics belong to Buddha. It is the largest Theravada Buddhist temple in Bangladesh and has the second-largest Buddha statue in the country. In the afternoon visit one Buddhist village. Check-in and overnight at the hotel in Bandarban.

DAY—8 : BANDARBAN – COX’S BAZAR

Today sightseeing covering at Ramu Buddhist village; Ramu is Attractive by artful oldest artistry based wood made Buddhist Bihar & archeological monument. There are monasteries, Khyangs and pagodas containing images of Buddha in gold, bronze and other metal, Inlaid with precious stones. One of the most interesting temples stands on the bank of the Bagkhali River. Arrive at the hotel and free day at the beach. Overnight at the hotel in Cox’s Bazar.

DAY—9 : COX’S BAZAR – DHAKA [AN HOUR FLY] - DEPARTURE

After breakfast at the hotel proceed to Cox’s Bazar airport to catch the flight to return to Dhaka. Arrival at Dhaka airport and next flight onward to the next destination/home. Tour ends.

Rangamati, Khagrachhari, and Bandarban are three hill tracts districts maintained by the district administration, BGB, and Bangladesh military. Foreigners need permission for visiting these districts from the Home Ministry of Bangladesh and the application must be submitted a month ahead of the scheduled visit along with a passport copy, visa number, departure and arrival time, the district he intends to visit, the purpose of visit, activities detail, duration of stay, mode of travel, expected date of return etc.
