Kuakata Kuakata, locally known as Sogar Kannya or Daughter of the Sea is
a unique combination of pristine sandy beaches bordered by
the Bay of Bengal, patches
of mangrove trees withstanding the perpetual forces 0f the tides and the ethnic
diversity most prominently visible during the annual religiaus festivals and pilgrimages.
Kuakata is located about 71 km south of the sea-queen district of Patuokholi, facing
the Bay of Bengal. It is accessible by rood or water from Dhaka. The beach is about
18 km long and 3 km width elongated east-westward from where both sun-rise and sun-set
can be seen.
Other destinations in Kuakata Latachopli and Tangragiri reserved forests
in the Kolapara Thana, Gangamoti reserve and Khajura reserve on the east and western
part 0f the beach respectively are bestowed with natural mangrove species like keora,
gewa, boen, kankra, goran, betal, golpata and numbers of wild animals like wild
boar, deer, monkey and different types 0f birds, Shima Buddist Temple and Rakhaine
culture at Kuakata are the added spots of tourism.
